Editorial Review
A fair warning to anyone contemplating the purchase of this handheld version of the video game classic: don't plan on having a life for a while. Tetris is less something you play than something you are consumed by. The concept of the game is simple: a series of shapes fall slowly down the screen and you must move them around and make them fit into horizontal rows before they hit the bottom. If you complete a row, it disappears. If you leave gaps, you will have less space to stack the ever-descending shapes. So you never really win the game, you just sort of delay losing. Nonetheless, it's almost impossible, once you start playing Tetris to actually stop. This handheld set is ready to play with batteries included, an on/off option for the bleepy video game music, and the ability to imprint cascading geometric patterns directly on your cerebral cortex for months to come (at least that's what it feels like sometimes). But that's not to say the game isn't fun--it is--and a handheld version is the ideal distraction for young or old on long trips. --Charlie Williams
